D had been severely sexually abused by a step father in early life, resulting in Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly Multiple Personality Disorder). D came to me weekly for 8 months complaining of hearing voices and having 6 different personalities, or alters. D was able to draw and name all of these alters. As she reclaimed power and control of her own identity, D noticed a reduction in hearing the voices, and after 6 months of work together, D had said the voices had completely gone away and stayed away for 2 months, and that her alters were officially gone. D made an art piece to commemorate this and celebrated her recovery from Dissociative Identity Disorder!

P had been seen by me weekly within his school on a Native American reservation for aggressive behaviors, and trauma. P had multiple traumas to heal from though one we focused on which was causing the most problems was a car accident in which he and his cousins were ejected from the car that his uncle was driving while intoxicated. P was suffering from intrusive images (flashbacks), and nightmares. P was distracted and had poor concentration at school. P did a few sessions of the Neurodevelopmental Art Therapy CATTI protocol for acute trauma and found complete symptom abatement after 3 sessions. P gave me a very tight and long hug, and said, “Thank you for helping me.”

B was a retired colonel in the US army and had broken his neck at home. He was in severe and persistent pain. B started coming to my Art Therapy group daily at the physical rehabilitation hospital. B realized after painting that he had not noticed any pain for 2 hours. He exclaimed, “There’s really something to this art stuff!” B continued to come to my group and became an amazing painter at 85 yo, calling himself “Grandpa Moses!”
